Named a Mom Approved Pediatrician by North Texas Child Magazine five years in a row, Dr. Anne Georgulas has operated Dr. Anne Pediatrics since 1997. In this capacity, Dr. Anne Georgulas provides patient care and educates parents on how to support their children’s physical, mental, and emotional health through activities such as organized sports.

In addition to providing the opportunity for healthy movement, playing sports has myriad social and emotional benefits. Playing on a team tends to boost confidence, as a high five or verbal praise from a coach can inspire the child to continue working hard. Contributing to a team’s success requires communication and cooperation, skills easily applied to school and other social situations.

Kids who play sports learn to take responsibility and accept the consequences of their choices, which are qualities of effective leaders. Finally, developing the discipline required to practice a sport can help children perform better in school and improve their time management skills.
